Compare programmes with similar purposes, then inspect their stages and requirements. Similar content does not mean the tests have the same difficulty or that one qualification transfers to another country.

Skate Canada Virtual Assessments – Section Reference Guide August 2024 Copyright © 2024 Skate Canada 7 The Team Many individuals play a crucial role in the preparation and delivery of virtual assessments. The following table outlines these key individuals and their roles and responsibilities: Individual Roles and Responsibilities On site (individuals present in the rink) Skater(s) The individuals who have registered with the club or skating school and been confirmed as eligible to take the assessment. Note: Skaters not participating in the assessment day may also be on the ice as assessments are encouraged to be held during regularly scheduled training sessions. Clear ice must still be available for Artistic/Freeskate programs and Dances. Coach An individual who is registered and in good standing with Skate Canada and has a Regional Coach In-Training status or higher. Coaches are responsible for preparing the skaters on what to expect for the virtual assessment day and may be asked to direct certain portions of the element assessments. Note: Coaches may also fulfill other roles and responsibilities related to the virtual assessment day such as that of music technician or videographer. Videographer An individual who is responsible for: - Joining the assessment day using the online meeting platform. - Filming the virtual assessment day, including the introductions, skater assessments and feedback portions. In some cases, multiple videographers may be required. Note: Knowledge of the sport and experience with filming movement is recommended when assigning this individual. Videographers will be provided guidance and training during the club/skating school’s scheduled technology check prior to the assessment day. Music Technician An individual who is responsible to play/stop the music at the request of the evaluator. Assessment Coordinator An individual appointed by the club or skating school. In addition to the assessment coordinator’s responsibilities for in-person assessment days, this individual is also responsible for: - Creating/finalizing the virtual assessment day schedule and delivery to the evaluator (in accordance with section process). - Ensuring all required roles for the assessment day are secured (e.g., videographer) - The delivery of the assessment sheets and planned programs to the evaluator (in accordance with section process). - The delivery of the completed assessment sheets to the skater(s) and/or coaches. Volunteers Any other individual(s) required and requested by the club/skating school to support the preparation and delivery of the virtual assessment day. This may include ice captains, club board members, or other volunteers.
