Skate Canada Virtual Assessments – Section Reference Guide August 2024 Copyright © 2024 Skate Canada 4 Overview This guide outlines protocols and procedures related to the delivery of virtual assessments. Particularly, it will highlight common virtual assessment day procedures which may require section-specific modifications to make them compliant to public health regulations or for other reasons as determined by the section. Four reference guides have been created, each one specific to the unique roles and responsibilities of the various participants in a virtual assessment day: - Virtual Assessments – Club/Skating School and Coach Reference Guide - Virtual Assessments – Service Technician Reference Guide - Virtual Assessments – Evaluator Reference Guide - Virtual Assessments – Section Reference Guide Introduction Assessing skaters virtually reduces barriers and increases the opportunities for assessment days throughout the country. Virtual assessments aim to provide: - The opportunity for skaters to continue their Star 6-Gold pursuits without geographical or financial limitations often associated with in-person assessments. - The potential for increased engagement between the coaches and evaluators. - Continued support of standardized assessments. Virtual assessments occur when the evaluator assigned to the assessment day is participating from an online meeting platform (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, etc.).
