Skate Canada Virtual Assessments – Evaluator Reference Guide August 2024 Copyright © 2024 Skate Canada 25 Videos can be sent through: - Whats App (preferred) - Text message - Messenger (video quality fluctuates) - Google docs - Dropbox - Email Depending on the connection strength in the arena, the second videographer may need to move to a different location (e.g., lobby, other building, home, etc.) where the connection is stronger to send the video recordings. While it is ideal that videos be sent between each skate or during each warm-up so that the evaluator can begin assessing, this may not be possible in all locations. Sometimes the videos will need to be sent from a different location after the assessment day has concluded. In all cases, preserving the ice time and ensuring all assessments are recorded is the priority. Once received, the evaluator will view the videos and, if time permits, rejoin the meeting to deliver the feedback to the skaters. If a longer time period is needed, feedback sessions can also be scheduled at a later date. Note: When viewing the videos, evaluators must treat them as if they were in a live format. This means each video is only watched once. Virtual assessments that move to a contingency plan may extend beyond the scheduled end time. Service technicians are required to ensure that all assessments take place on the virtual assessment day. The service technician must coordinate with all participants to verify that everyone is able to proceed. Feedback Sessions When feedback is not able to be given on the same day as the assessments, it is the responsibility of the service technician to coordinate a new date and time with the evaluator and club/skating school within a reasonable time frame. This must be identified prior to any participant leaving the call on the day of the virtual assessment. Service technicians can take the opportunity while on the virtual assessment day to confirm which date and time would work best for everyone, eliminating the need to coordinate via email following the virtual assessment day. A meeting link for the feedback session will be provided to the evaluator. The service technician will organize and direct the feedback session by either identifying specific log on times for each skater and coach or by facilitating breakout rooms so that the evaluator can speak to each skater and coach privately.
