9. Creative Dance Element ADDITIONAL PRINCIPLES OF CALLING: 1. The first performed CDE shall be identified as the required CDE and given a Level, or ignored if the requirements for Basic Level are not met. Subsequent CDEs not according to the Required Elements for Rhythm Dance shall not be identified. 2. If an Edge Element occurs within the CDE, such Edge Element will be identified as Extra Element(s) ExEl and receive a deduction, e.g. CDE+ExEl. 3. If a Fall or Interruption occurs at the attempt to or during the CDE and the element is immediately resumed, the element shall be identified and given a Level according to the requirements met before and after the Fall or Interruption, or ignored if the requirements for Basic Level are not met. Required Features for season 2026-27 Required Pattern: The element must begin with a brief stop or skidding movement in order for the element to be identified by the Technical Panel. Skater performs steps/movements from the first barrier to the opposite barrier. The requirement for barrier to barrier is fulfilled when the skater is not more than 2 meters from each barrier. A brief stop to signify the start of the element will not be considered as the required stop for the CDE. Either short or long axis is permitted. Required Stop: Dance Stop for no more than 5 seconds must be performed anywhere within the CDE after the brief stop or skidding movement to signify the start. Note: Any stop performed during (after a brief stop or skidding movement) or at the end of the CDE, will be considered as the dance stop. A brief stop to signify the beginning will not be counted as the required stop. Any stationary spinning movement is also not considered as a stop. If the stop is longer than 5 seconds the Technical Panel will not consider it as a feature for the level and the judges will consider this in their GOE mark. Required Movement: One (1) Choreographic Sliding Movement (must be moving) of at least two seconds. Touching the ice with any part of the body is permitted only during the required Choreographic Sliding Movement. Any additional touching of the ice is subject to the appropriate fall or illegal element deduction taken by the technical panel. Required Presentation: It is required that the element must demonstrate presentation to all four sides of the rink. Execution directed exclusively toward the judges does not fulfill this requirement. LEVELS OF DIFFICULTY • LEVEL BASE: Skater must start the element with a brief stop or skidding movement in order for the Technical Panel to identify the element and then perform steps/movements around the chosen axis (Short or Long only) and must proceed from barrier to barrier and reach at least half way across the chosen axis or the element will be ignored. • LEVEL 1: Skater must achieve a Level Base as outlined above and meet the Required Pattern Feature above. • LEVEL 2/3/4: LEVEL 1 + one or more of the other required features outlined listed above.
