How to use this

Start with a country, a beginner programme or an element. Open a level to read its collected requirements. Expand programme stages to see the exercises inside.

Try double Axel or three turn in the search box. Results show available definitions and matching evidence; not every question can be answered from the collection.

Compare programmes with similar purposes, then inspect their stages and requirements. Similar content does not mean the tests have the same difficulty or that one qualification transfers to another country.

Follow source links to check the original context. Where saved documents are available, you can read them here. Documents keep their dates; translations may be working translations rather than official wording.

This is a growing collection, not every requirement from every country. Missing results can mean missing or untranslated evidence, not that a skill is absent from a country’s programme. Read the coverage notes before drawing conclusions.

Dance Assessment Resource Guide February 2026 Copyright © 2026 Skate Canada 158 Focus Areas Focus Areas are a step or series of steps that have been identified in each dance as areas of significant importance. They introduce new skills to the skater and/or are highlights of the dance. There are two to three Focus Areas in each dance that must be successfully completed. A Focus Area is considered successful when it has been completed twice with the correct edges, foot placement and timing as defined. The timing of the focus area in STAR 2-5 pattern dances may be included as part of the allowed timing error. At this level, the focus is on the technique while the timing may still be in development. The Focus Area does not need to be done successfully on consecutive sequences of the dance and must be done correctly at least twice during the assessment. Determining the Overall Assessment Calculating the Result If the Mandatory Requirements are complete, then to achieve a pass, a skater must meet the required number of Silver (or better) Full Pattern assessments indicated at the bottom of the assessment sheet. To achieve a Pass with Honours, a skater will need to achieve the required number of Gold assessments indicated. Mandatory Requirement completed: Full Pattern Assessment Requirement completed: ☐ YES ☐ NO ☐ YES ☐ NO Both requirements must be YES for an overall assessment of Pass or better. Record the total number of overall Gold, Silver or Bronze Full Pattern Assessments at the bottom of the sheet. Determine the result by matching the totals in the Gold and Silver tally boxes with the requirement to pass the assessment.
