Start with a country, a beginner programme or an element. Open a level to read its collected requirements. Expand programme stages to see the exercises inside.

Compare programmes with similar purposes, then inspect their stages and requirements. Similar content does not mean the tests have the same difficulty or that one qualification transfers to another country.

Follow source links to check the original context. Where saved documents are available, you can read them here. Documents keep their dates; translations may be working translations rather than official wording.

This is a growing collection, not every requirement from every country. Missing results can mean missing or untranslated evidence, not that a skill is absent from a country’s programme. Read the coverage notes before drawing conclusions.

Dance Assessment Resource Guide February 2026 Copyright © 2026 Skate Canada 11 Dance Content At the STAR 1-5 level, the content consists of dance elements and dance patterns. There are two assessments per level except for STAR 1. The STAR 6-Gold level consists of three dances per level. The dances may be trained and assessed in any order within the level. For STAR 1 - 8, skaters must pass all the assessments in a level before moving to the next level. STAR 9, 10 and Gold permit skaters to pass two of three dances at each level to be considered complete. Example: A coach may train a skater to complete STAR 6C, then STAR 6A before completing STAR 6B. All STAR 6 dances must be complete before any STAR 7 dances are assessed. Descriptions, Diagrams and Assessment Requirements The descriptions and pattern dance diagrams have been reproduced with permission from the International Skating Union. Note: Terminology has been updated for Dance. What has traditionally been referred to as “man” or “lead” is now identified as skater B or B steps, and what has traditionally been referred to as “lady” or “follow” is identified as skater A or A steps. These changes have been made to reflect current practices in the STAR structure, in which a skater may choose the dance steps to perform regardless of their gender identity. It also reflects the inclusive practice in sport.
