Assessment Guide Print Version History Details Category: Guides Created: 10 April 2019 Last Updated: 21 August 2024 Terms used: Club A not-for-profit organization that is operating for the general purpose of providing Skate Canada skating programs and is managed by a volunteer board of directors. Evaluator An individual sixteen years of age or older who is responsible for evaluating assessments in the STAR 6-Gold structure.  Evaluators are qualified to assess in one or more disciplines. Evaluators An individual sixteen years of age or older who is responsible for evaluating assessments in the STAR 6-Gold structure.  Evaluators are qualified to assess in one or more disciplines. Section An organization incorporated or organized in a particular province or territory (and in some cases, a combination thereof) strategically aligned with Skate Canada, that may receive funds from provincial or territorial Governmental Authorities and be subject to applicable sport recognition programs and transfer payment arrangements. Each Section is held to the governance and operating requirements of their respective province and / or territory(ies) and is responsible for skating in their respective jurisdictions. Skating School An organization other than a Club that is operating for the general purpose of providing Skate Canada skating programs. Spins An element where the skater rapidly revolves, centred on a single point on the ice, while holding one or more body positions.  In singles and pairs, a spin must have at least three revolutions to be considered a spin. The minimum number of revolutions in a position is two without interruption. STAR Assessments Resource Guides Assessments at the STAR 1-5 level are designed to support skater development within their own environment and remove barriers such as extra costs, inconvenience and time constraints. Assessments at the STAR 6-Gold level are offered in an "external evaluation" environment (i.e., assessed by an evaluator ), with the exception of Skills that may be assessed by either an evaluator or the skater's qualified coach assessor.
